Here is the opening sonnet of Irving Layton’s “A Tall Man Executes a Jig.” I recommend reading the whole poem! But check this part out…

To be immersed in nature and let the sun be your clock is a feeling like no other. Layton gives nature a sense of eroticism, letting us in on his moment of pure love for the world. The first three lines take me to a happy place. This is the kind of poem that changes how I live my life, reminding me of nature’s ability to heal. Go forth today and breathe in some fresh air, surround yourself with trees, look up at the sky. Let yourself feel small, for that might make your troubles feel smaller.

Nocturne/Night 01.30

Last night, I was at my favorite cafe. It’s usually not open at night, so this was a first! I so rarely have my usual latte in the night time. I was sitting and enjoying the live jazz music, looking at my elegant drink. And I started to write this poem. At the surface level, the “world’s best object” is simply my latte. But, as is always the case with art, it means much more. Let it mean whatever it means to you! I won’t elaborate on how it exactly applies to my life. I can’t even put it into clear words. This poem’s the best attempt I’ve got. Writing about this drink allowed me to take a trip through my thoughts and make my way to my heart. I love how writing a poem can be so cathartic. Cheers!
